First quarter century of Post 5
Explorer Post 5 was established in 1969 and is associated with the Learning for Life program, a part of the Occoneechee Council of Boy Scouts of America in Raleigh. Powell Kidd, a WRAL engineer and volunteer Boy Scout leader, started Post 5 for high school age boys and girls to apply the skills learned in scouting to a possible career in broadcasting.
Post 5 and now Post 50 are still going strong today.
